Body Massage & Indian Head Massage

What is Body Massage?

Massage is an instinctive human response. When we bump ourselves, we rub it and the ‘ouch’ goes away. This basic instinct has been slowly developed over countless generations into a sophisticated healing art. Professional massage is an age-old therapy, which can alleviate physical, mental and emotional ailments. The practice dates to the Chinese in 3000BC. Other references in the Bible refer to anointing the body with oil. It developed, in one form or another, in all the nations of the Old World. In 460BC, Hypocrites, who is considered a father of medicine, described it as a beneficial treatment for his patients. He said that all physicians should have experience of the techniques of rubbing. It is recognized that rubbing can bind a joint that is too loose and loosens a joint that is too rigid.

Massage is a scientific method of manipulating the soft tissues of the body to have a specific effect. Its objective is the restoration of function and release of tension. Massage therapy is the holistic  application of physical touch to the systems of the body; e.g. the muscular, skeletal, digestive, elimination, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine, emotional, mental and nervous systems.

What happens during a Body Massage treatment?

During the first consultation, the therapist will ask for a number of basic details regarding medical history and general health concerns in order to best tailor your treatment. Every aspect of treatment will be kept in the strictest of confidence

After–Care Advice

There might be after effects and these are normal reactions to treatments. The symptoms can be uncomfortable at the time and usually pass after 24 hours. Your body is working to remove toxins from your system and your treatment speeds up this process.

Typical after effects may include tiredness, muscular aches and pains, going to the toilet more often, changed sleep patterns and headaches.

To make sure that you get the most from your treatment, you should follow the guidance below:

Drink plenty of water.  Massage helps your body remove toxins from your body. Drinking plenty of water helps this process.

Eat Light Meals. Avoid heavy, stodgy foods; they usually contain more toxins and are harder for your body to break down.

Relax. Try and rest as much as you can after a treatment, you should feel revitalised. Remember, no housework!!

Don’t sun bathe or use sun beds, it isn’t safe as your skin will burn easily due to the oils.

Reduce the use of: Caffeine, alcohol and tobacco, these are all toxins which your body is working to remove and they may disrupt sleep patterns.

I look forward to working with you. Taking this time out for  yourself is so important. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions
